Samsung Electronics today unveiled 11 of its latest handsets at the Samsung Mobile Roadshow 2008 including the Samsung F480. Based on the company's new consumer segmentation model, the all-encompassing line-up offers a mobile for every lifestyle, as the company seeks to double regional handset sales to capture more than 25% of market share in 2008.Samsung's F700 and F300 are joined by the F480, a pretty clear knockoff of the LG Prada (down to the fake leather case). I find its touchscreen implementation rough, even if it's improved from Samsung's previous handsets.
Overall, I'll pass, especially at the proposed European price of 350 to 400 Euro. The Samsung F480 is a 3.5G capable device supporting HSDPA high speed data downloads of up to 7.2 Mbps. The Samsung F480 mobile phone is a slim handset that's dominated by its giant touch-sensitive screen. Not only does the 2.8-inch display make it easy to control the phone's features, it also gives you feedback by gently vibrating when you press one of the on-screen buttons. It also supports standard 3G (UMTS), GPRS and EDGE data, however the Samsung F480 does not support WiFi. The display is a large 2.8" 240 x 320 pixel panel, and on the back is a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash. The F480's camera also features video and image stabilisation, has a slow motion function and built-in video editor. The Armani phone is probably one of the bitterest rivals of Samsung F480. As we see it, the … well… designer handset has very little chance against the F480. The device we are currently reviewing is far more capable and its interface is well above the Armani.
