More than 200 guests gathered at a picturesque Berkshire mansion on a Saturday in 2003 for an interracial marriage as French football hero Thierry Henry tied the knot with his interracial dating girlfriend of two years, model Nicole Merry, who famously got the athlete’s motor running in a car commercial. The London-born beauty co-stars with Thierry in a Renault Clio advert, receiving a “va-va-voom” from the Arsenal striker after she dons his team shirt and not much else. Two years after they first met, Thierry, 25, and Nicole, 23, made their vows at Highclere Castle , a Victorian estate owned by the Earl of Carnavon. Henry signed a new four-year contract last year after Barcelona made a concerted effort to capture the France international. The 29-year-old French international insists he will not backtrack on that agreement, again pledging his commitment to Arsene Wenger’s side. The Gunners captain has endured a frustrating season on the fitness front and it has prompted talk he could quit Emirates Stadium in the summer. But the striker, who will not play again until next term due to groin and stomach injuries, is adamant he is going nowhere. “People in France and some over here are still saying I am going to leave,” Henry told The Sun. “I am not going to leave. And 37 percent of teens in Metro Vancouver, were born outside the country, typically in Asia. And another 39 percent of teenagers in our West Coast metropolis have immigrant parents. Based on an extensive survey of Canadian teenagers, it was discovered that more than nine out of 10 Metro Vancouver teenagers said they have close friends who are not Caucasian.

Korean spouses have spent an average 13 million won ($10,600) in costs for interracial marriages, the Korea Consumer Agency (KCA) said Monday after surveying 266 matchmaking agencies.
“We conducted a survey of 1.044 companies but only 266 of them properly answered. The rest of them are marginal ones,” said Choi Eun-sil of the KCA.
Interracial marriages in Korea are increasing year by year, from 4,710 in 1990 to 36,204 in 2008. More than 28,000 Korean men married foreign spouses last year, more than double the 8,000 Korean women who married expatriate men. (more…)
